WAAE Athens Summit 2024 Information
Dear WAAE Summit Participant,
Welcome to Athens and the WAAE Athens Summit 2024!
Please take a moment to thoroughly review the following important and practical information:
(1) Programme, Abstracts, Bios

We have established a dedicated NKUA website, providing a "home" for all the short abstracts and bios.
You can conveniently access all the abstracts by the day of the presentation, along with the bios of the wonderful presenters: https://conferences.uoa.gr/event/93/
(2) Workshops (specific capacity for each Room)
There is a rich variety of high-quality workshops, however, with a capacity of 15-20 people. Sign-up forms will be at the Registration desk, where you may sign up for the workshops (on 17th October from 13:30 onwards and on 18th-19th from 09:00).
Please arrive early at the Workshop you have signed up to participate in. If you arrive later or are a no-show, your place will be given to the next person on the form (waiting list).
(3) Confirmation of attendance certificate
All participating speakers (paper presentations, posters, panels, workshops, arts-based) and performers will receive a certificate of attendance one month after the conference. It will be sent to your email address. Make sure we have your correct email address during registration. If you haven’t received your certificate by 20 November, please get in touch with the Organising Committee (check spam before!).
(4) Receptions, Dinners, and Lunch
Coffee/Refreshments / Dinners & Drinks are included in the Conference Fee
The main Conference Dinner is on the 18th of October (20:30) at an impressive location (The Old University) at 5 Tholou Street, Plaka area (Old city of Athens).
You can reach the venue for the conference dinner on the 18th of October (20:30) at 5 Tholou Street, Plaka, either by walking from the Acropolis metro station, as shown in the first image, or by car, as indicated in the second image.
You may purchase extra tickets for the Conference Dinner at 20 euros each at the Registration Desk on October 17th and 18th.
- Lunch is served daily at the School of Philosophy Restaurant (opposite the Conference Venue). It is a three-course meal at 3 euros each, but please wear your NAME BADGE for this special price.
- You’ll find some lovely coffee shops next to the restaurant and on the 2nd and 4th floors of the School of Philosophy. They're the perfect spot to grab a quick snack from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., except on Saturdays.
(5) Name Badges
Please remember to wear your name badges with a smile on campus, at the receptions, and during the summit dinner!
TRANSPORTATION TO AND FROM THE VENUE
Two buses will serve Summit Attendees FREE OF CHARGE every morning and every evening from October 17th to October 19th!

From WAAE SUMMIT VENUE to ATHENS:
LEAVES OUTSIDE THE VENUE:
17/10 - after the end of Opening Ceremony and Reception
18/10 – after the end of the session, go downtown towards the Metro Stations Evangelismos & Megaron Mousikis. From there, you may take the BLUE LINE and get off at Syntagma Square to walk towards the Plaka area and the Summit Dinner.
19/10 – after the end of the Closing Ceremony and Reception.
(6) Access to Venue by Bus
To reach the Modern Greek Language Teaching Centre by bus, you can use the following bus lines that serve the area:

These routes provide convenient access to the venue, and you can check the schedules for more accurate timing.

Taxis in central Athens are affordable. Feel free to signal a taxi on the street or contact the taxi company to arrange a pickup from your hotel or the Summit Venue.
