Where can I find the program and abstracts for the summit?

The final program is available online at Programme Link. All short abstracts and presenter bios can be accessed by the day of presentation on the dedicated NKUA website here: NKUA Event Page.

How can I sign up for workshops?

Workshop sign-up forms will be available at the Registration Desk starting from 13:30 on 17th October and from 09:00 on 18th-19th October. Please note that workshops have a limited capacity of 15-20 participants, so it’s advised to sign up early.

What happens if I am late or miss my workshop?

If you arrive late to a workshop or do not attend, your spot may be given to the next person on the waiting list. Arrive early to secure your place.

Will I receive a certificate of attendance?

Yes, all participating speakers (including paper presentations, posters, panels, workshops, and performers) will receive a certificate of attendance via email one month after the conference. Make sure your email address is correct during registration. If you haven’t received your certificate by 20th November, please contact the Organizing Committee (check your spam folder first).

What meals are included in the conference fee?

Coffee, refreshments, dinners, and drinks are included in the conference fee. Lunch is served daily at the School of Philosophy Restaurant (opposite the Conference Venue) for a special price of 3 euros, but you must wear your NAME BADGE to benefit from this price.

Can I purchase extra tickets for the Conference Dinner?

You can purchase extra tickets for the Conference Dinner at the price of 20 euros each at the Registration Desk on 17th and 18th October.

When and where is the main Conference Dinner?

The Conference Dinner will be held on 18th October at 20:30 at The Old University, located at 5 Tholou Street, in the Plaka area (Old City of Athens).

Where can I find snacks and coffee during the conference?

There are coffee shops located next to the restaurant and on the 2nd and 4th floors of the School of Philosophy. They are open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. every day except Saturdays.

Is it essential to wear my name badge?

Your name badge is essential during the summit. Please wear it at all times on campus, during receptions, and especially at the summit dinner.

How do I get to the summit venue from Athens?

Two free buses will transport Summit Attendees from central Athens to the venue each morning from October 17th to 19th.

  • Bus 1 departs from Rizari Street (near Evangelismos Metro Station, beside the War Museum) and stops near Hotel Divani Caravel before reaching the Summit Venue.
  • Bus 2 departs from Megaron Mousikis Metro Station (Venetis Bakery), with stops across the road from Athinais Hotel, at Fidipidou Str., and near Hotel Ilisia (Hilton), before arriving at the venue.
What time do the free-of-charge buses leave in the morning?
  • Thursday (17th October):
    • Bus 1 departs at 8:15 from Rizari Street, near Evangelismos Metro Station.
    • Bus 2 departs at 8:10 from Megaron Mousikis Metro Station.
  • Friday & Saturday (18th & 19th October):
    • Both buses depart at 8:40 from the same locations.
How do I return to Athens after the conference sessions?

Buses will leave from outside the Summit Venue:

  • 17th October: After the Opening Ceremony and Reception.
  • 18th October: After the session, buses will take attendees downtown towards Evangelismos & Megaron Mousikis Metro Stations. You can continue on the Blue Line to Syntagma Square to walk to the Plaka area for the Conference Dinner.
  • 19th October: After the Closing Ceremony and Reception.
Can I take a taxi to and from the venue?

Yes, taxis are affordable in central Athens. You can signal a taxi on the street or contact the local taxi company at 18300, or internationally at +30 210 5219601. You can also show them your destination on a map (included in the printed program) or provide the address:

Where is lunch served during the conference?

Lunch is served daily at the School of Philosophy Restaurant, located opposite the Conference Venue. It’s a three-course meal for 3 euros, but make sure to wear your name badge to get this special price.

Who should register for the WAAE Summit?
  • All attendees of the WAAE Summit (whether presenting or not) must complete their registration.
  • Individuals with accepted submissions who intend to attend the conference must complete their registration by 15 June 2024.
  • First authors of submissions MUST attend the conference and MUST complete their registraion by 15 June 2024.
  • 2nd, 3rd etc. authors who will not attend the conference will not pay registration fees.
  • All participants of an accepted PANEL Discussion submission MUST attend and complete their registration by 15 June 2024.
I am a teacher/educator. How do I complete the fields ACADEMIC PROFESSIONAL TITLE and AFFILIATE INSTITUTION?

You can write your professional title (teacher οr educator) in the field ACADEMIC PROFESSIONAL TITLE and then the school's name where you currently work in the field AFFILIATE INSTITUTION.

I am a local student (BA, MA, PHD). How will I prove my student status (φοιτητική ιδιότητα)?

As a local student (studying in a Greek higher education institution) you are required to upload together with your registration a proof of student status.
This can either be confirmation letter from the Secretary of your Department (βεβαίωση από Γραμματεία) or a scan of your current student ID card (φοιτητική ταυτότητα σε ισχύ).

I am a local teacher. How will I prove my teacher status?

As a local teacher you are required to upload together with your registration a proof of teacher status.
This can be a confirmation letter from the Head of your School (βεβαίωση από τον Διευθυντή του σχολείου).

What is the deadline for the Waae Athens Summit 2024 Submissions?

The extended deadline is January 22nd 2024 at 11:59 PM CET.

What is the difference between an Paper presentation and an Art-based / Performance-based presentation?

• Paper Presentation: Paper presentations involve one or more co-authors and will take place in two formats:
(A) Research papers
(B) Opinion papers
Each paper presentation will be allocated 20 minutes (15 mins presentation + 5 mins discussion)

• Αrt-based/Performance-based presentations: involve one or more co-authors and will take place in two formats:
A. Research papers, with live art or performance (part)
B. Opinion papers & with live art or performance (part)

Each Art-based/Performance-based paper presentation will be allocated 20 minutes, to include performance/analysis/documentation.
* The part of the performance or artistic action is required to be in live action (and not recorded or in digital format).

What is the word count for a paper presentation and for art-based or performance-based submission?

• 15 words or fewer for paper title
• 800 words or fewer for abstract (excluding title). References, tables, and figures should be added to the end of the document and are not included in the word count. No more than a total of seven (7) tables and/or figures may be included.

What is the word count for a panel discussion?

• 15 words or fewer for the title
• 500 words or fewer for overall session summary without any author/participant identification. The summary will be published in the Conference proceedings and must address the following elements:
1. Objectives of the panel discussion
2. Overview of the presentation format
3. Scholarly or scientific significance
4. Structure for the session
• 250 words or fewer for each participant’s paper/presentation summary to be included in the panel discussion without any author/participant identification.
• Conclusions and implications for arts education

What is the word count for a workshop submission?

• 15 words or fewer for paper title
• 800 words or fewer for extended abstract
• References, tables, and figures should be added to the end of the document in JPG format and are not included in the word count. No more than a total of seven (7) tables and/or figures may be included. Submissions will be removed from consideration if the paper exceeds the word limit or includes author identification.

Is there a limit on the number of co-authors on my paper?

No. There is no limit for co-authors listed as long as they all contributed to the paper.

Do I need to use a specific format?

Yes, pdf file.

Can I change my paper submission?

You can change the abstract you submitted through the link for review your received with the submission confirmation e-mail and if the submission deadline has not passed.

How many submission are we allowed?

Up to 2 submissions per author overall.
And
2 submissions as first author as long as they are in different categories
2 submissions in the same category but only one as a first author.
